The new application of Raman spectrometer - Rapid Detection of COVID-19 Causative Virus

According to the latest issue of the American Chemical Society journal "ACSNano", researchers at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) successfully detected the coronavirus 2 in the laboratory using graphene. The researchers said that this discovery may be a breakthrough in the field of coronavirus detection, which is expected to quickly detect the new coronavirus and its mutant strains.

The researchers found that the vibration of the antibody-coupled graphene sheet changed when exposed to a positive sample of the coronavirus 2, but there was no change when exposed to a negative sample of the coronavirus 2 or other coronaviruses. With the help of a Raman spectrometer, the researchers measured the vibration change within 5 minutes.

NANOSCOPE Micro Raman Spectrometer, equipped with optical microscopy system and XYZ motorized sample stage, can accurately find the target and quickly capture the Raman signal for more detailed analysis. With surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy technology, it can detect trace amounts of analytes-from residual small molecules to large molecules, and even viruses and bacteria.

Combining the portability of handheld Raman and the performance of large-scale Raman, with easy-to-operate software, it can be easily used without professional operators, allowing you to move a precision instrument to the place you need to research at any time for operation.
