B Cells

B cells are part of the adaptive immune system with a role in humoral immunity. B cells produce antibodies, function as antigen-presenting cells, and also secrete immunomodulatory cytokines. Primary CD19+ B cells can be isolated from leukapheresis (Leukopaks) via positive or negative immunomagnetic separation.
B cells are used in the generation of hybridomas to create therapeutic monoclonal antibodies against a target antigen. Defects in B cell development and function can cause disease so better understanding of B cell pathology in vitro can help develop new therapies and effective vaccines.
